The thermostat reads at the container surface. A full 55-gallon drum or thick material can take additional time for heat to move from the drum wall toward the center of the contents.

Do not order by gallon capacity alone. Measure the actual drum. This blanket is designed around a standard 55-gallon drum with approximately 26.77 in / 68 cm diameter; it is not sized for a standard 5-gallon bucket.

Plastic drums require lower temperatures. YeloDeer recommends keeping the thermostat below 100°F / 37°C for plastic containers unless the container manufacturer specifically approves a higher temperature.

Before Installation

Basic Setup
- Place the drum on a stable surface and inspect it for leaks or damage.
- Insert the thermostat probe fully into the supplied sensor pocket.
- Place the aluminum foil side of the sensor pocket directly against the drum surface.
- Keep the sensor pocket firmly positioned so it maintains consistent contact.
- Wrap the heating blanket evenly around the drum.
- Remove gaps, folds, overlaps, or tight creases.
- Secure the blanket using the Velcro straps and adjustable buckles.
- Install the insulated top cover.
- Connect the heater to the digital thermostat controller.
- Plug the controller into a properly grounded 120V AC outlet.
- Select a suitable temperature and timer setting for the material and container.
- Monitor the first heating cycle and verify actual material condition before relying on the setting for routine operation.
Correct sensor placement is required for thermostat control. Do not leave the sensor hanging in open air. The sensor pocket must remain against the drum surface.


Do Not
Do Keep the blanket flat, maintain drum contact, inspect the power system regularly, and use temperature settings appropriate for the container and material.
Do Not Fold, overlap, puncture, cut, sharply crease, or modify the heating blanket. Do not operate it on a leaking or unsuitable container.
After Use
Turn the heater off, unplug it, and allow the blanket and drum surface to cool before removing or storing the heater. Store the blanket dry and avoid sharp folds or mechanical damage.
